Well, well, well what a week of games and man was I pumped for the matches. Although I went 4 - 2 in my picks some teams came to play while others seem to go through the motions. But at the end of the day teams were competing and it was refreshing to see close games throughout. We had the hustlers of Horeb out hustled the crusaders of Corona defeating them by 2; Bronx ran express all day and stopped the stars of CWC from shinning beating them by 11; New Life was rejuvenated and closed out the hawks of Fellowship by 2; the professors of WP schooled the juggernauts of NJ and taught them how to finish the game beating them by 3; Sharon shocked the world and defeated the warriors of Rogers Ave by 8; and the rematch from last year championship left a bitter taste in the mouths of the ballers who for some reason couldn't close out the kings of T&T allowing them to prove their worth. Man let me take a breath, if you think teams don't play up to their competition then think again because when players know they are facing a daunting task or opponent they are more focused and as a result you have closer games, likewise when they come in over confident they tend to play poorly. This week we have 6 games and to the victor go the spoils. Who will stand up and continue to shine or which team would fall back on their old habits only time will tell but let’s see what Milo thinks about this week games which could be the jolt that some teams need for a last push for the playoffs. New Jerusalem Juggernauts vs River of Life Sustainers
East meets west as the juggernauts of NJ try and rebound after a tough loss and squeezes the life out of the sustainers and move up in the division. NJ played a great game last week despite their loss to the undefeated professors. Now they face the sustainers who were off last week but are finally healthy and ready. NJ knows what is at stake and will come out the gate strong. What are the keys to victory for both teams? NJ must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and play with passion. ROL on the other hand must start the game strong and maintain their aggression, play solid defense, get bench contributions and play above the rim. Look for a close game because both teams will compete, however, the juggernauts are upset from last week performance and will not let another game slip away especially to a lesser team. NJ wins this match up by at least 10 points as they continue to climb.
Christian Fellowship Hawks vs Rogers Ave Warriors
Battle in the west as the hawks of Fellowship look to soar and fly by the warriors and keep them in the win-less column. Fellowship lost a tough game last week and I predicted they would lose by 2 points. The only question I ask is will they come to play or will they play to their opponent. Rogers Ave is finding out that even the poor teams in the division are a problem especially when you are the new kids on the block. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Fellowship must push the rock, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and play team ball. Rogers Ave on the other hand must shoot lights out, out rebound their opponent, attack the rim, and get stops. Look for a close game the first half but I expect to see Fellowship run away this game and soar high than the warriors could see. Fellowship wins this match up blowout style.
White Plains Professors vs Corona Crusaders
East meets west as the undefeated professors look to continue schooling the crusaders and show them how to study for a test. What can I say one year they have a down year and then like clockwork Boom! They are on top the world. Felix always have answers for any situation and it showed in the way his team follows his lead. The know how to win games despite the opponent or the drama. Corona on the other hand must come prepared or get blasted back to the Stone Age. Corona lost last week in a close game to a divisional leader and now they face the daunting task of stopping a freight train. What are the keys to victory for both teams? WP must play their style, shoot well from the line, minimize the turnovers, and attack the paint. Corona on the other hand must start the game strong, shoot well from everywhere, out rebound their opponent, and get bench contributions. I expect to see a close game the first 2 minutes but man this is going to be tough for the crusaders. WP wins this match up blowout style as they continue their dominance and remind the league that they are and still is the cream of the crop.
Triumphant Tabernacle Kings vs Community Worship Center Stars
East meets west as the kings of T&T try and continue their winning ways and stop the stars of CWC from aligning. T&T despite their record is still one of the top teams and they show why last week in a win against the ballers of Bethany. This team is well coached and their players are comfortable with their assignments. It's the in game adjustment that usually makes the difference from winning a chip and flapping out early. CWC lost last week to the Bronx team but played better ball down the stretch. What are the keys to victory for both teams? T&T must out rebound their opponent, shoot well from the line, attack the paint, and play solid defense. CWC on the other hand must shoot well from the field, attack the rim, play solid defense, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game the first half but by second half I expect to see the kings run away and defeat the stars blow out style.
Ebenezer Sharp Shooters vs New Life Rejuvenators
East meets west as the sharp shooter of Ebenezer look to take target practice and take down the surging rejuvenators of New Life in Milo's "Game of the week". Yes I picked this game as the game of the week because the implication for New Life is real. New Life defeated Fellowship last week by 2 justifying my stand that they are the dark horse in this year race. Ebenezer was off last week but knows what is at stake if they continue to lose games. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Ebenezer must shoot well from the field, attack the rim, play solid defense, and minimize the turnovers. New Life on the other hand must play their style and push the rock, shoot well from the field, out rebound their opponent, and get bench contribution. I expect to see a close game this time because both teams will be prepared for battle. However, I feel the rejuvenators have been waiting patiently for their time to shine and it appears this is the year. New Life wins this match up by 4 points as they hold on to the top spot in the division.
Bronx Hawks Express vs Sharon Shockers
Battle in the east as the Bronx Hawks try to not get shocked by the Sharon Shockers and keep them in the basement. Bronx had an easy game last week and played ahead the entire game. Sharon shocked the world last week by defeating the warriors of Rogers Ave which was great for their fans and followers. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Bronx must run express, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and play solid defense. Sharon on the other hand must play smart and attack the paint, play solid defense, out rebound their opponent, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game the first half and hopefully the shockers will continue to build off last week performance. However, the better team is the hawks and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up blow out style.
