I've been chomping at the bit for this week to come because this is the week when the real teams would show up and the pretenders are exposed. If last week games weren't exciting I don't know what would tickle your fancies. Although I went 5 - 1 in my picks I must say I was impressed by the performances of most teams. We had the professors of White Plains blow the lid off the new kids on the block CWC Stars by 21; Bethany balled passed the juggernauts of NJ by 3; T&T exploded and out hustled the hustlers of Horeb by 9; Fellowship rolled pass the sustainers by 13; New Life was rejuvenated and took it to the warriors of Rogers Ave by 23; and to my surprise the one game I lost was the sharp shooters of Ebenezer found the Midas touch and beat the hawks of Bronx by 2. Now the stage is set and this week we have some major battles that would determine the real teams from the pretenders. Let’s go.
New Life Rejuvenators vs Triumphant Tabernacle Kings
Battle in the west as the defending champs look to take over the division and drop the rejuvenators out of first place in Milo's first " Game of the week". Both teams are tied in the division and both teams are playing good ball. New Life has really turned the corner and is starting to believe in their abilities. T&T on the other hand isn't the defending champs for nothing, they play total team ball and their coaches understand that to win the war you have to win the individual battles. What are the keys to victory for both teams? New Life must continue to play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and minimize the turnovers. T&T on the other hand must out rebound their opponent, play solid defense, shoot well from the field, and get bench contributions. I expect to see a close game this time and as much as I like New Life chances I'm going with the kings of T&T to explode and take this game by 4 points as they take control of the division.
Bronx Hawks Express vs Bethany Ballers
Battle in the east as the Bronx hawks try and run express and take the legs out of the Bethany ballers to drop them into the defeated ranks. Bronx lost a tough game last week and I know their coaches reevaluated their team's approach. Bethany on the other hand is riding high and since their lost in the chip game has been perfect for this season. Both teams are very familiar with each other and both teams have pride. The question is which Bronx team would show up this week and can they play a complete game. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Bronx must make stops, out rebound their opponent, shoot well from the field, and minimize the turnovers. Bethany on the other hand must play their style and attack the paint, get stops on the defensive end, shoot well from the line, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game this time because pride is on the line. However, I feel Bethany has a chip on their shoulder and know every game is a tune up for the playoffs. Bethany wins this match up by 5 points as they continue their march to perfection.
Community Worship Center Stars vs Rogers Ave Warriors
East meets west as the star look to align their fortunes and take it to the warriors and keep them in the win-less column. Both teams lost last week blow out style and both teams are still trying to find their grove. This time both teams are preparing for a win, and as the saying goes a win is a win. CWC won one game this year and Rogers Ave is still trying to figure it out. What are the keys to victory for both teams? CWC must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and out rebound their opponent. Rogers Ave on the other hand must play smart and push the rock, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game because both teams will struggle to score, but I feel this is the one game that Rogers Ave must win to save face. Rogers Ave wins this game by 2 points as they celebrate their first victory.
Corona Crusaders vs River of Life Sustainers
Battle in the west as the bottom dwellers try and rise out of the dungeon and elevate their teams. Both teams only have one win and both teams are struggling to find their identity. What's even more interesting is that Corona know what they have to do to win but get into game lapses and it's over. ROL on the other hand is playing with nothing to lose because one more win could be the difference from facing a tough opponent in the playoffs or having an easy game. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Corona must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions and attack the rim. ROL on the other hand must shoot well from the line, out rebound their opponent, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game this time but in the end I feel Corona would get out the gate slow and it would allow ROL to roll. ROL wins this match up by 67 points as they prove their worth.
Ebenezer Sharp Shooters vs Sharon Shockers
Battle in the east as the sharp shooters try and continue their winning ways and take it to the shockers of Sharon. Ebenezer showed me something last week and I must admit I expected them to battle. Now they are playing in a very dangerous game because a win-less team could be as dangerous as an undefeated team. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Ebenezer must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and minimize the turnovers. Sharon on the other hand must play hard but smart, shoot well from everywhere, out rebound their opponent, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game in the first 5 minutes however, Ebenezer is the better team and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match-up blow out style.
Fellowship Hawks vs Horeb Hustlers
Battle in the west as the Fellowship hawks tries to stop the Horeb hustlers in Milo's second "Game of the week". This game will really tell me which team outside of T&T would be problems in the west. You see that division have 4 teams tied for first place, and it's these battles that would determine which team is for real and which team is a pretender. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Fellowship must continue to play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and minimize the turnovers. Horeb on the other hand must continue to push the rock, shoot well from the line, out rebound their opponent, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game because both teams are playing on a high level. I expect to see lots of score changes but in the end I feel the hustlers would do a little bit more and win this game in the closing seconds and beat the hawks by 2 points thus clipping their wings.

Life is full of surprises and it's only by the grace of God that we are able to see another week. God has been good to us and we need to be good to him. The devil knows what is at stake and he will try an all-out effort to distract us from reaching our true goals which is building good character for the kingdom.
