Man what an exciting week of games we had, although I went 3-4 in my picks I was surprised by some of the scores. We had the destroyers of New Dime destroy the defending champs by 9; the professors of White Plains schooled the crushers of Cornerstone by 37; the hustlers of Horeb out hustled the tigers of Mt Sinai taming them by 18; the ballers of Bethany blew out undefeated Fellowship giving them their first loss by 28; River of Life sustainers jumped the juggernauts of NJ by 15; and the sharp shooters of Ebenezer out lasted the crusaders of Corona by 1 point. Although a quarter of the season has passed teams can still make noise come playoff time. Who would stand up and fight and who will wilt under pressure only time would tell. Let’s see what Milo thinks about this week games which would be intense to say the least. Let's go.
New Life Rejuvenators vs. Triumphant Tabernacle Kings
West meets south west as the rejuvenators of New Life try and stop the kings of T&T and continue their winning ways. New Life was off last week but they have been playing lights out thus far. They are currently in second place in their division and only have one loss for the year. What a difference a year makes for some teams. T&T lost last week to the destroyers of New Dime and the pride of their coach and players would not allow this to continue much longer. What are the keys to victory for both teams. New Life must out rebound their opponent, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the paint. T&T on the other hand must play with that swagger, push the rock, get bench contributions, and shoot well from the line. Look for a close game throughout because New Life is for real. However, I feel that the defending champs have more pride and would come out the gate strong. T&T wins this match up by 8 points as they continue their grind.
River of Life Sustainers vs. Ebenezer Sharp Shooters
Southwest meets east as the sustainers try and sustain the sharp shooter and steal a game. Both teams played last week and both teams won. River of Life is in the mix for the playoffs and they look ready to make a push. Ebenezer on the other hand have been handling their business and it showed in their close win last week. Both teams knows what is at stake and both teams know it is a must win game. What are the keys to victory for both teams. ROL must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and get bench contributions. Ebenezer on the other hand must shoot well from the field, attack the paint, minimize the turnovers, and out rebound their opponent. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the sharp shooters have more to lose and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up by 4 points as they hold on to first place in the east.
New Jerusalem Juggernauts vs. Horeb Hustlers
East meets southwest as the juggernauts of NJ try and stop the bleeding and out hustle the hustlers of Horeb. NJ lost last week by 15 points and did seem to be clicking all night. They played hard but didn't get the result they wanted. Horeb on the other hand have shown resiliency in bouncing back after 3 losses. Both teams want to play better down the stretch and both teams have heart. What are the keys to victory for both teams. NJ must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the paint, and shoot well from the field. Horeb on the other hand must push the rock, shoot well in transition, out rebound their opponent, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game but I feel Horeb is on a roll and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up by 6 points as they continue to move up the ladder.
Bethany Ballers vs. Cornerstone Crushers
East meets west as the ballers try and continue their winning ways against the crushers of Cornerstone. Bethany balled last week and gave undefeated Fellowship their first loss of the season. They are a half game behind Ebenezer for the division lead. They face the crushers who was crushed last week against the professors. Cornerstone haven't played with a full deck of cards all season and it showed in their losses. Although that is no excuse players must have pride in their craft and stress team play at all times. Everyone can't shoot and score and that is what has kept Cornerstone in the doldrums. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Bethany must push the rock, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the rim. Cornerstone on the other hand must get back to basics and follow their coaching staff instructions, play solid defense, shoot well from the field, and out rebound their opponent. Look for a close game this match up but in the end I feel the ballers would make more shots and win this match up in the closing seconds by 2 points as they stay with the pack.
Ephesus Eliminators vs. Mt Sinai Tigers
Northeast meets west as the eliminators try and continue their winning ways and tame the tigers. Ephesus was off last week but they were definitely watching the tigers. Mt Sinai lost last week by 18 points and didn't seem to get it going. Both teams are fighting for position in their respective division and a win could go a long way. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Ephesus must push the rock, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and out rebound their opponent. Mt Sinai on the other hand must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the paint, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game because both teams are familiar with each other. However, I feel in the end the eliminators would find a way to neutralize the tigers and win this match up by 4 points.
White Plains Professors vs. Christian Fellowship Hawks
Northeast meets south west as the professors of WP and last undefeated team try and continue their winning ways and stop the hawks of Fellowship from flying in Milo's "Game of the week". Coach Felix is at it again and he's quietly showing why he and his coaching staff are so good. WP for years have been the talk of the town and defended it with chip after chip. This year they came in a bit under the radar but you can't question the professors heart and will to win. They square off against Fellowship who last week was undefeated and played an uninspiring game to say the least. I know they didn't have their full squad and that might have been the reason for their poor play. Well this week they better have their players ready because this is going to be a tall order to fill. Fellowship knows they have to win to keep the kings in the rear view mirror but it would be a daunting task. What are the keys to victory for both teams. WP must play their style and attack the paint, shoot well from the field, play solid defense, and play a half-court game. Fellowship on the other hand must shoot extremely well from the field and foul line, out rebound their opponent, make defensive stops, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game if Fellowship have a full squad, however, WP is on a mission and after the bitter taste in their mouths from last season they have come back with a renewed focus. WP wins this match up as they prove a dynasty is never done until it is done.
Mt Vernon Vipers vs New Dimension Destroyers
Northeast meets west as the vipers try and sting the destroyers into submission. Mt. Vernon was off last week and they better be well rested. They are facing a dangerous New DIme team that defeated the defending champs by 9 points. Now the stage is set and to the victor goes the spoils. New Dime looks primed and ready to take on the league with their flashy plays and scorers. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Mt Vernon must play smart and attack the paint, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and play solid defense. New Dime on the other hand must push the rock, shoot well from the field, attack the paint, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game in the beginning but I feel New Dime is on a mission and for that reason I'm picking them to win this game by 6 points as they continue to shine.
