Well what an exciting week of games we had. I went 6-2 with my predictions and feel a lot better with picks as I familiarize myself with every team. We had high flying hawks of Fellowship blow out the crusaders of Corona in the game of the week; the ballers balled pass the hustlers; the eliminators eliminated the shockers; the sharp shooters shot the juggernauts out the sky; the rejuvenators tamed the tigers; the crushers barely crushed the sustainers and the professors poisoned the vipers. Like I said any team could lose any given night so preparation is key. This week we have some more exciting games with big implications so let’s see what Milo thinks about this week games which would be intense to say the least. Let's go.
Ephesus Eliminators vs Bronx Hawks Express
Battle in the northeast as divisional rivals square off for what should be an exciting match. Both team won last week, and both team knows what’s at stake this week. Ephesus is in 4th place looking up at their opponent who knows they can't fall to far behind divisional leader White Plains. Bronx already lost one and can't afford to loss to divisional opponents. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Ephesus must eliminate the turnovers, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and play solid defense. Bronx on the other hand must play smart and push the rock, shoot well from the field, out rebound their opponent, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game because both teams will be battling. However, I feel the Bronx would have more success running and gunning and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up by at least 8 points as they stay on top.
New Jerusalem Juggernauts vs Mt Vernon Vipers
East meets northeast as the juggernauts look to sting the vipers and give them some of their own medicine. Both teams lost last week and need to play better as the season goes along. NJ played some close games only to come out on the short end of the stick. Now they face the vipers who played well with teams in their division but somehow seem to be struggling against opposing divisions. What are the keys to victory for both teams. NJ must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the rim. Mt Vernon on the other hand must play smart but stingy ball, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and out rebound their opponent. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the juggernauts would battle harder and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up by at least 4 points as they move from the win-less column.
New Life Rejuvenators vs River of Life Sustainers
West meets southwest as the rejuvenators try and sustain the sustainers and continue with their winning ways. What a difference a year makes for teams. Both of these teams were still going through the growing pains and it seemed to have paid off. New Life is tied for 2nd place in their division and River of Life tied for 3rd in their division. Both teams were bottom dwellers last year and look to take it to the league. What are the keys to victory for both teams. New Life must play their style and attack the rim, out rebound their opponent, shoot well from the line, and minimize the turnovers. ROL on the other hand must push the rock, play solid defense, shoot well from the field, and get bench contributions. Look for a close game but in the end I feel the rejuvenators would be rejuvenated from their early success and for that reason I'm picking them to win this game by at least 10 points as they continue to climb Jacob's ladder.
Mt Sinai Tigers vs New Dimension Destroyers
Battle in the west as the tigers try and destroy the destroyers at their own game and jump them in the standings. Both teams lost last week despite playing hard all game. New Dime lost a barn burner against the Bronx express while the tigers were swarmed by the rejuvenators. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Mt Sinai must play strong perimeter defense, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the paint. New Dime on the other hand must play solid interior defense, shoot well from the line, out rebound their opponent, and attack the rim. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the tigers would get wounded and the destroyers would pounce. New Dime wins this match up by 4 points as they continue to grind.
White Plains Professors vs Corona Crusaders
East meets northeast as the professors try and school the crusaders in math and physics. Corona was blown out last week by the hawks of Fellowship and looked uninspired. White Plains also blew out their opponent and had it on cruise control all game. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Corona must go to the well and play their best defensive effort, shoot extremely well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the paint. White Plans will come prepared as they always do and attack the paint, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and play solid defense. Look for a close game the first half, but by second half I expect to see the professors school the crusaders and blow them out the gym thus staying undefeated for the year.
Cornerstone Crushers vs Horeb Hustlers
West meets southwest as the crushers try and out hustle the hustlers and keep them win-less. Horeb lost a tough game last week and need to play better down the stretch if they are to win a game. Cornerstone on the other hand won last week but looked like a team in disarray. They had big leads and watched it disappear in the end of the game only to pull out a close win. If Cornerstone players continue playing unorganized and me first ball they will continue to be disappointed each week. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Cornerstone must listen to their coaching staff and play team ball, minimize the turnovers, shoot well from the field, and play solid defense. Horeb on the other hand must push the rock, shoot well from the line, attack the paint, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the hustlers would press too much and for that reason I'm picking the crushers to win this match up.
T&T Kings vs Ebenezer Sharp Shooters
East meets southwest as the defending champs try and rebound from a tough loss and out shoot the sharp shooters in Milo's "Game of the Week". T&T was off last week but it must have been a long week especially with the poor play they had against Fellowship. Now they face the sharp shooters who is quietly playing their style of ball early in the season. Both teams have identity and both teams knows how to win. What are the keys to victory for both teams. T&T must explode in the paint, shoot well from the line, attack their opponent weakness, and minimize the turnovers. Ebenezer on the other hand must shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, attack the rim, and out rebound their opponent. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the champs would find a way and defeat the sharp shooters by at least 6 points as they calm down and give Ebenezer their first loss.
Fellowship Hawks vs Sharon Shockers
Southwest battles northeast as the high flying hawks try and continue their winning ways and take it to the new kids on the block. Fellowship has the Midas touch so far this year and they are playing good team ball. They blew out their opponent last week and look ready to continue this week. Sharon almost shocked the world last week with a close loss to the eliminators. What are the keys to victory for both teams. Fellowship must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the rim, and minimize the turnovers. Sharon on the other hand must play smart and use their strengths, slow down the game, out rebound their opponent, and play with passion. Look for a close game the first half but by second half I expect to see Fellowship run away with this game and continue their undefeated quest.
