Could you hear the drum beat in the distance last weekend on the Southern State Parkway? The kings are coming, the kings are coming. This was what the Bronx hawks heard in the distance as they prepared for battle. Both team had their tail-gating party and everyone was enjoying the pre - game festivities. Both coaches had their pep talk before the game and players were enjoying the spot light for one last time. During the introductions both teams were sizing each other up before the game while both coaches were finalizing their game plan. Bronx brought their bravado and their players were ready to compete. However, as I watched both teams journey to the championship I realized how much different both teams were built. Bronx had all their home grown players playing and a first time coach leading them in the championship game. T&T on the other hand had an experienced coach with a good track record and players that had experienced success in the big game before. You could see the way T&T was relaxed during warm ups and Bronx looked a little timid at first. Once the horn sounded for the start of the game the Bronx players showed why they made it this far. The gym was jumping with anticipation and both teams didn't disappoint. Both coaches had their teams prepared and focused and all that was left for both teams was how well they executed the game plan. Bronx young guns were pressing at times but settled down once the actual game started. Both teams executed but what the kings were able to do is withstand any run the hawks provided. Triumphant Tabernacle had the mojo this game and they played like a team destined. The game was close throughout but whenever Bronx tried to run express they seem to get derailed by a stifling defense. As the clock winded down and the T&T fans realized the game was theirs I looked at the disappointment on the Bronx players and fans faces. T&T exploded and there was nothing anyone could do this night. As the final horn sounded and fans of T&T were rejoicing I could hear the drum beat in the distance. “The kings are champions the kings are champions ". Colin and his coaching staff are now in rear air because by winning this championship they proved that they are and will always be considered one of the best in NCBL history. Three championships as a player and four championships as a coach and the clock is still running. So to the Bronx hawks great season fellas but it just wasn't meant to be. You fought hard and played the game the right way but unfortunately your best wasn't good enough this night. I booked a large boat to accommodate your team and fans, so bring lots of bait because you are going fishing for Bass on the Jersey Shore. Try and enjoy the success and don't relish on the disappointing loss because what's done is done. Clear your heads and prepare harder for next season and who knows you could be back in this position again. Congrats to the Triumphant Tabernacle team for an exciting season and bringing home the hardware. To my NCBL family it's has been a blast and I pray God would continue to bless this league as we move forward to the future. Thanks to those who have followed us all year with the write ups and games, without you this league wouldn't be as successful. God is good all the time and we have to channel all our efforts to ensure we are in compliance with Him. If God is on our side then no one could stand against us. Have a great summer everyone and players remember in order to get better at your craft you must practice on your weakness not your strengths. Until next time this is Milo signing out. God bless.
