As the season comes down to the finish line teams are gearing up for the last push to the playoffs. Last week we had some more exciting games with lots of playoffs implications. Although I went 6 - 2 in last week picks for the most part I was dead on. We had the professors of WP teach the volunteers how to play team ball blowing them out the gym, the prophets of QB lost to the juggernauts of NJ by 4; the kings of T&T out hustled the hustlers of Horeb by 7; the ballers of Bethany squeezed by the sustainers of ROL by 1; the kingsmen of Kingsboro stopped the crushers of Cornerstone by 5; the rejuvenators of New Life blew out GNYC by 34; Bronx ran express and defeated the vipers of Mt Vernon by 43; and the sharp shooters of Ebenezer tamed the tigers of Mt Sinai by 9. With a couple weeks remaining in the season teams are starting to panic while others are starting to gel. This week we have 8 games scheduled and match-ups are crucial for some teams moving forward. Who will come out and play this week only time would tell but let’s see what Milo thinks about this week games which could be a stepping stone for some teams to reach the playoffs and a cliff hanger for others. Let's go.
Cornerstone Crushers vs Bronx Hawks Express:
1st in the west battles 1st in the northeast as the crushers of Cornerstone try and bounce back against top flight run and gun Bronx express in Milo's " Game of the Week ". Bronx is currently in first place in their division despite having the same record as White Plains. They defeated them earlier in the season and have the edge in the standings. Cornerstone on the other hand is still in first place but hanging on by a thread due to their tough loss last week. Now the stage is set for a clash that the loser might not recover from especially with other teams breathing down both team backs. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Cornerstone must out rebound their opponent, shoot well from the field, play solid defense, and minimize the turnovers. Bronx on the other hand seems to have the edge because they seem to always have big games in the Kennedy gym which they call home. They must push the rock, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. Both teams will come prepared because they both have good coaching. The key this game is who makes the most stops this game. If Cornerstone comes with their entire crew then it would be a game, but if they don't have the bodies they would be blown out the gym. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the Bronx would shoot the ball better and being they are in their back yard I pick them to win this game by at least 6 points as they hold on to the top spot.
New Jerusalem Juggernauts vs Mt Vernon Vipers:
East meets northeast as the juggernauts of NJ try and continue their winning ways against the vipers of Mt Vernon. Mt Vernon was blown out last week to the Bronx and now face another tough team in NJ. NJ has quietly shown growth from last year and is playing at a high level currently. They defeated QB last week and is primed for a good finish. What are the keys to victory for both teams? NJ must push the rock, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. Mt Vernon on the other hand must play smart but hard, attack the rim, shoot well from the field, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel the juggernauts would have more fire power and for that reason I'm picking them to win this game by at least 4 points as they march to the playoffs.
Triumphant Tabernacle Kings vs New Life Rejuvenators:
West meets south west as the kings of T&T descend on the rejuvenators of New Life and keep them in the bottom of the division. T&T defeated the hustlers of Horeb last week and is primed for a deep run in the playoffs. I told you folks that this team is for real and come playoff time you all would be witnesses. They face a New Life team that is playing better but is far from the standard T&T brings. What are the keys to victory for both teams? New Life must start the game strong, shoot well from the field and line, get stops on the defensive end, and minimize the turnovers. T&T on the other hand must play their style and attack the paint, shoot well from the line, out rebound their opponent, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game the first half but come second half I expect to see the kings show why they are top notch and blow out the rejuvenators by at least 10 points.
Corona Crusaders vs Queensboro Prophets:
East meets west as the crusaders of Corona try and stop the prophets of QB and keep them below 500. QB lost a good opportunity to move up in their division with a win last week but poor play down the stretch dampened their chances. Now they must try and refocus and play a complete game if they are to be considered a threat come playoffs. Corona on the other hand can play good ball but too many times they are inconsistent and it results in losses. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Corona must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. QB on the other hand needs to play better and they would have to prove they want it. They must minimize the turnovers, shoot well from the line, out rebound their opponent, and attack the paint. Look for a close game throughout but in the end I feel that QB would want it more and for that reason I'm picking them to win this game by at least 8 points.
Horeb Hustlers vs White Plains Professors:
Southwest meets northeast as the hustlers of Horeb try and stop the defending champs and move out the basement. Horeb played a good game last week despite their loss. They have a good team but the margin for error is slim so they have to be prepared for everything. WP on the other hand do what they do and that's win. They played a skeleton crew last week and still blew their opponent out. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Horeb must minimize the turnovers, out rebound their opponent, shoot extremely well from everywhere, and hope the heating equipment fails during the game. White Plains on the other hand must play their style and attack the rim, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and just show up ready. I expect to see a close game the first half but by second half the better team would pull away. White Plains wins this game and match up by at least 10 points as they stay on top their division.
Ebenezer Sharp Shooters vs River of Life Sustainers:
East meets southwest as the sharp shooters try and continue their winning ways against the sustainers of ROL. Ebenezer played a complete game last week and took it to arch rival Mt Sinai. Now they square off against the sustainers who also played a solid games last week despite their one point loss to division leading Bethany. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Ebenezer must shoot the rock well, play solid defense, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. ROL on the other hand must come out the gate strong, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and attack the rim. Look for a close game the first half but by second half I expect to see the sharp shooter shoot the lights out the gym and defeat the sustainers by at least 10 points.
Ephesus Eliminators vs Bethany Ballers:
Best in the east meets 3rd in the northeast as the ballers of Bethany try and continue their winning ways against tough out Ephesus. Ephesus was off last week and should be ready to make their final push at the playoffs. They face the ballers who last week got a huge scare from ROL winning by one point. This game is going to be interesting for a couple of reasons and the team that plays the highest will be victorious. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Ephesus needs to minimize the turnovers, shoot well from the field, get bench contributions, and attack the paint. Bethany on the other hand must play solid defense, shoot well from the line, minimize the turnovers, and push the rock. Look for a close game throughout because both teams bring it. But my gut feels that Ephesus who has been off for a couple weeks would be primed and ready to take control this game and for that reason I'm picking them to win this match up by 4 points as the stay with the pack.
GNYC Ebenezer vs Christian Fellowship Hawks:
West meets southwest as the hawks of Fellowship try and not be the first team to lose to GNYC this year and keep them win less. GNYC played last week and lost blow out style to their opponent. Now they face a Fellowship team that a couple of weeks ago had their destiny in their own hand but with some tough losses have dropped to the pack. This game is more important to Fellowship because they need to keep up with T&T. What are the keys to victory for both teams? GNYC must minimize the turnovers, play solid defense, shoot well from the field, and get bench contributions. Fellowship on the other hand must play hard but smart, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and out rebound their opponent. I feel that GNYC would play better but their lack of identity would cause them to play small ball. Look for a close game but in the end I feel Fellowship would make the necessary plays to close out this game and win by at least 10 points.
Well that's all for Milo's Week 11 Picks. Players come out and give the fans a show; fans come out and support your teams and let's fellowship together. God is so good to us we must always remember those less fortunate. Life is so fragile that we must be on guard at all times and armed with the Word of God. Don't let the other influence you into wrong doing because in the end God would punish you more severely. God wants us to be his disciples and only by following his path and instructions can we achieve the ultimate prize which is being saved in His kingdom. So don't revel in others pain and suffering, don't make fun of those less fortunate, and don't ever vex the Holy Spirit because in the end when it's all said and done a whole world would know why you were left out of Heaven. Keep praying and smiling because if you can't count on your fellow members and leaders you can definitely count on God. Until next time this is Milo signing out. God Bless.
