Wow what a week of games we had last week. Some teams performed to their level while others sputtered down the stretch. We had 8 games last week and I was a bit disappointed with the play of some teams. We had the ballers of Bethany balled pass the tigers of Mt Sinai by 9; Bronx ran express and held the rejuvenators down by 8;New Dime destroyed the crushers of Cornerstone by 20; T&T rolled over the sustainers of River of Life by 9 thus taking their division; Horeb out hustled the hawks of Fellowship by 30 and took 2nd spot in their division; the juggernauts of NJ barely beat the crusaders of Corona by 1; Ephesus eliminated the vipers of Mt Vernon by 32; and the professors schooled the shockers of Sharon by 33 ending their season the way it began. We have 3 more games remaining in the regular season and teams are anxiously awaiting the outcomes. Who will make a last stand and show they deserve to be in the dance, and which team would come to play. Only time will tell but let’s see what Milo thinks about this week games which would impact who faces who come playoff time. Let’s go.
Corona Crusaders vs. Bethany Ballers
Battle in the east as the crusaders of Corona try and move up in the standing and out ball the ballers of Bethany and prove their worth. Corona is in the playoffs and would like to move up so they don’t face a tougher opponent come playoffs. They have 2 games remaining and have to do it back to back this weekend. Bethany on the other hand already won their division and is tuning up for the playoffs. WHat are the keys to victory for both teams? Corona must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, out rebound their opponent, and minimize the turnovers. Bethany on the other hand must play their style and attack the rim, play stingy defense, pressure the guards into turnovers, and get bench contributions. I expect to see a good game this week especially with only 3 teams playing. But as the saying goes the better team usually wins these types of games. Look for a close game the first half but as the second half comes around I expect to see Bethany pull away and win this match up blow out style as they prepare for the dance.
Mt Sinai Tigers vs. Ebenezer Sharp Shooters
East meets northeast as the tigers of Mt Sinai try and take a bit out of the sharp shooter and drop them in the standings. Mt Sinai lost last week although they played better. Now they face the sharp shooters who pretty much wrapped up second spot in their division. Both teams know how important a win is and both teams want to improve their seating. Ebenezer needs to win this game so they don’t have to face a power house team the first round. Mt Sinai is on the bubble and need to win this game so they could move up a couple of spots. Currently NJ is a game ahead however; if the tigers win they would jump NJ being they defeated them earlier in the season. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Mt Sinai must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, minimize the turnovers, and out rebound their opponent. Ebenezer on the other hand must attack the rim, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and play loose. Look for a close game but in the end I feel the better team Ebenezer would win. Ebenezer wins this match up by 8 points as they prepare for the dance.
Ephesus Eliminators vs. Corona Crusaders
Northeast meets east as the eliminators of Ephesus try and continue their winning ways and eliminate the crusaders. Ephesus defeated the vipers of Mt Vernon last week and now set their sights on moving up in the standings. Corona will be playing their second game this weekend and if they somehow win their first game then I expect to see them come out to play on Sunday. Ephesus knows what is at stake a win and they jump over the Bronx in the playoffs because they would have the same record and they defeated the Bronx team earlier in the season. What are the keys to victory for both teams? Ephesus must push the rock, shoot well from the line, get bench contributions, and minimize the turnovers. Corona on the other hand must play solid defense, shoot well from the field, attack the paint, and minimize the turnovers. Look for a close game but in the end I expect to see the eliminators show why they are considered elite and defeat the crusaders by 10 points as they prepare for the dance.
